Why projects beat long lectures

A child may forget a definition of a “loop.” They rarely forget the moment their quiz app finally worked.

Project-based learning helps because it:

  • Makes abstract ideas visible on screen.
  • Turns mistakes into debugging practice (a real coding skill).
  • Gives kids something to explain: “Here’s what I built and how it works.”
  • Builds confidence faster than theory-only classes.

What parents should look for at home

You don’t need to know Python to spot healthy progress. Ask your child:

  • Can they show a project that runs?
  • Can they explain one thing they fixed when it broke?
  • Are they getting more independent with small challenges?
  • Do they sound curious about the next feature — not just grades?

Those signs matter more than finishing a long checklist of keywords.

Python first or Java later?
